If you would like to create/edit and addon, you must have basic knowledge of how to create and extract a pbo file.

Extracting and creating PBOs is very easy if you use Kegetys  cpbo tool. You can download it here .

open the archive and extract the cpbo.exe to your ArmA main directory. (normally : C:\Program files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA).
Now run the cpbo.exe and the program will ask you if you'd like to associate cpo with PBO files. Click on "Yes".



Now head to the Addons folder and you'll get confronted with various pbo files. (The addons folder is located in your main ArmA dir)

Let's extract the animals.pbo.

Therefore right-click on the file :

Now press extract and cpbo will extract the animals.pbo



A new folder called animal.pbo will be created open it and you are able to edit the files within the pbo.

If you'd like to create a .pbo file (for example repack the animals.pbo), simply right-click the folder and press "create PBO".

Congratulations you are able to extract/create PBO files.
